South Carolina Senator Tim Scott spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention to advocate for President Trump serving a second term as President. Senator Scott spent much of the speech telling his life's story before pivoting to attacking former Vice President Biden and then praising Donald Trump's leadership as President.

Day One Date & Time

Day one of the Republican National Convention is Monday, August 24, 2020. It is officially being held in Charlotte, North Carolina, but will also be held virtually.

Official meetings will be conducted virtually throughout the day, with the public being invited to attend via live stream.

Prime time coverage begins at 8:30 PM EST and will conclude at 11:00 PM EST. This is when viewers will be able to watch speeches by prominent politicians and personalities on TV and online.  

Day One Theme: Land of Heroes

The theme for the first day of the Republican National Convention is "Land of Heroes." Many of the speeches from the evening will have a focus on everyday heroes in the country and will include speeches by prominent politicians and ordinary citizens. 

Day One Daytime Events

There are a number of official meetings that will be held throughout the day that viewers can participate in via livestream on the official Republican National Convention website.

The first day of meetings will include the formal nominations of President Trump and Vice President Pence to lead the Republican ticket in the 2020 Presidential election.

There will also be performances by a number of personalities and artists in the hour leading up to prime time coverage and in the hour after prime time coverage has concluded.

Day One Prime Time Speakers

President Trump is slated to make an appearance every night at the convention. 

Other notable speakers on the first night of the Republican National Convention are Donald Trump Jr., Senator Tim Scott, Representative Steve Scalise, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, Representative Jim Jordan, Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, Representative Matt Gaetz, and Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle.
